About Me: Family

My wife Paulette and I have been married 29 years and spent our entire married life in Clayton, minus the first 2.5 years when the Air Force had me stationed in Virginia.  Paulette grew up in Randolph Township/Clayton and aside from our time in Virginia, has lived here in Clayton her entire life.  She has a love for the area, and a passion to do her part to promote a community that cares for one another. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in life.

We have three children: David, Rachel and Grace.

Our oldest daughter Grace tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident (along with her fiancé Jamie) Memorial Day weekend 2021. They were each on their own motorcycles on back roads when a pickup truck turned in front of them. After her death we were touched to hear from so many people she had helped. Grace was a free spirit with a generous heart and was always so creative. She is missed every day so very much.

David currently resides in Alabama, working as an accountant and pursuing missions work. He was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and had three open heart surgeries by the time he was 3 years old.  One reason I left the active-duty Air Force and transitioned to the Air Force Reserve was to ensure health care stability for him; as a result, we decided to stay in Clayton to be near family and remain in this great city. David is doing well at the moment and enjoys everyday activities like you and me. He knows every day is a gift and lives a full life but does so with half a heart (single ventricle).

Rachel lives in the Atlanta, GA area and is a regional manager for a nonprofit organization. She works with universities across the southeast United States. She grew up doing politics with her grandparents here in Clayton, so she has provided valuable tips and insights to my campaign.

This is the last family picture of us. Value your family and cherish the time you have with them. Tomorrow is not promised…
